Michal Weinberg was born in Copenhagen, Denmark where her parents served as diplomats. Later they had settled in Eilat by the Red Sea, the southwest point in Israel. Her childhood and adolescence were inﬂuenced by the sea and the beaches.
Michal graduated from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel at the age of 25.
During her third year she was sent to S.R.Jent in London as an honor student where she learned the craft of building a collection from the boards stage.!Michal still has a strong connection to Shenkar College – she has been a lecturer there in the swimwear course for the past two decades and she continues to do it with great love for her students, teaching them the secrets of the trade.
After graduating from Shenkar, Michal lived in Paris for a year and worked in Poppy Moreni's studio as an assistant and designed for Rasurel swim for the 1988 collection.
She came back to Israel and was among the founders of the brand Scubidu where she started the line from scratch. Michal took part in pattern making, training the team and meeting with clients. She was involved in every stage of the manufacturing process and that is when she gained her broad vision on how to build a brand.
Michal is currently working at Gottex swimwear brands and she is the head of design for the brands Turkiz, Proﬁle by Gottex and Proﬁle Blush.
The brand Turkiz was founded 18 years ago. It is sold only in the Israeli market and is very successful, Michal has been Turkiz head of design since it was established.
In 2007 she built the brand Proﬁle by Gottex. This brand is designed for every woman, that's why its slogan is "every woman has her own Proﬁle". Proﬁle was initially designed to ﬁt the American market and has proven great success by being the 3rd best-selling brand in the US. Proﬁle is designed with the consumer in mind. It targets young, busy and independent woman who understand fashion and wants her swimwear to show her best assets and cover her ﬁgure imperfections. This line unique and have it’s own language.
In 2013 Michal created the brand Proﬁle Blush, this collection comes to ﬁll a void in the swimwear market. It is built especially for the contemporary D cup and up section of the market. This line targets an easy going, free spirited young woman and because it targets a younger consumer than Proﬁle, it consists of only 2 piece swimsuits and cover-ups to complete the look and targets an easy going, free spirited young woman and because it targets a younger consumer than Proﬁle, it consists of only 2 piece swimsuits and cover-ups to complete the look. The secret for the success of these brands are design, ﬁtting process and a devoted team that works together.
Michal's swimwear appeared in many international magazines throughout the year such as "Glamour", "Sports Illustrated", "Cosmopolitan" and more.
Her hobbies are traveling to exotic countries, visiting ﬂea markets and renovating old furniture.
She won the ﬁrst prize from Nattuzi Company in renovating chairs 10 years ago. She is a mother of two.
